The creation of SMALLOCAL is in stages. 

The first stage was VALIDATION.   

SMALLOCAL is creating its own category of business. There is no specific template or similarity to any other business from which to draw upon. However, it could be said there are multiple templates to draw upon as SMALLOCAL is not just one business, but rather an entire "ECOSYSTEM" (economic system) of multiple business categories tied together into one entity. 

My first objective was to meet with many of my trusted and respected business friends and verbally lay out the vision and concept to see if there is even any interest. Or to find if they are aware of any other entity that provides, in its entirety, what I am envisioning. 

The responses were overwhelmingly positive, supportive, and defintely needed. Yes, some tried to do the natural, "oh it's like" comparison/association, but once I provided more detailed information they realized that there is nothing like SMALLOCAL and the magnitude of the concept. 

The responses validated my suspicion that a concept such as SMALLOCAL is not only interesting, but needed. 

We are now in the second stage of BUILDING A FOUNDATION.

This is the most important, and possibly the most time consuming stage.

With the inspiration of the many business owners, I have gone into my Caractucus Potts mode and am working in my barn (small personal office in downtown Morro Bay) to start taking SMALLOCAL from an intangible thought to a tangible product. The foundation is being built with and by you, the OG's (see the blog SMALLOCAL OG's: Who will portray you in the movie? https://imsmallocal.com/blog/f/smallocal-ogs-who-will-portray-you-in-the-movie ) The tangible aspect of SMALLOCAL is being built by  only those business that I know qualify as members. As I say, "For Small Business Owners, By Small Business Owners." This is truly an entity of COLLABORATIVE CAMARDERIE from the beginning. And you, if you are reading this, with your insight, advice, inspiration, and promotion will be instrumental in creating a solid foundation for a global ecosystem of small local businesses that creates connections, guidance, and increased profits like nothing else presented before. 

As I work with those who have the skill sets in areas that I do not (which are many) the concept becomes better, more refined, and exciting!
